SKRibbs' Story
I blame my friend and fellow SkyKnight Zooty for my squad involvement and really, my introduction to online flight. And like many others, I joined the squad while we were still flying on Air Warrior, prior to the jump to Aces High. I prefer the bombing aspect of the game. For me, managing the aircraft systems pulls me into the simulation - and did I mention I suck as a fighter jock?
Attending the 2003 AH Convention in Indy was a real hoot! I got to meet Mr. and Mrs. Alpo, Seadog, and Flossy, as well as Dale Addink, the father of AH. I hope it won't be my last convention!
Okay, it has been brought to my attention that not everyone has an F-16 cockpit in their living room - I still find this hard to believe. I do have to credit that purchase with creating a need for the 'Ribbstick' - an affectionate term given to some parts I threw together to emulate the real 'force sensing' F-16 stick. Amazingly, there are no stick alternatives for cockpit builders. They choose between the traditional joystick with its unrealistic displacement and large base, or the $20,000 flight worthy stick - and gee, if the cost weren't enough, it only communicates with the F-16 flight computer!
My wife and I reside in Dayton, Ohio with our two wonderful sons. I have one of those great jobs that allows me to work out of the house - as a manufacturer's representative in the HVAC industry.
