SkyKnights... In the beginning
The Sky Knights Bomber Group were formed while Air Warriors II was still in BETA. It was the brainchild of K E Strohm Sr., known as "Ken". Ken was well loved by all who knew him in Air Warrior II as a pesky bomber pilot who was never afraid to push the envelope in his B17.
He picked his pilots with great care and trained them to bomb the way he did. He ran his squad the way they were run during WWII. He made each new pilot fly with him to observe and if that was not possible then they flew with one of his senior pilots. He gave them rank and promoted them based upon their ability and accomplishments. He made training films and passed them on to not only his squad but to any other bomber pilot who wanted them. He was hunted and admired by the enemy. Known by all countries for taking fully crewed bombers on the ride of a life time pulling all types of aerobatic manuevers in the middle of a dog fight.
All this ended on May 28th, 1997 when Ken died from a sudden heart attack. He was sadly missed and upon hearing of his death, the pilots of the arena chose to cease hostilities and the missing man formation was flown for a fallen warrior. A formation of B17s made up of pilots from all three countries.
With Ken's passing the squad fell to the XO of the squad Raven, who took over and kept it alive. He continued to help it prosper and carry on with the goals Ken started. Raven took the squad and recruited more pilots and made it a true threat to Az and Bz bases in the arena. A short time later, Ken's son, KenJr's began flying in the arena. As a tribute to KenSr, Raven passed the command of the squadron to him. Squadron command has passed through several hands since that time, not so long ago.
SkyKnights of Today
The SkyKnights are currently found in the Main Arena of Hitech Creations' Aces High. While we don't have the numbers we used to, we can generally muster a great deal of attention with our bomber formations of thirty planes or more. We specialize in precision bombing, not haphazard carpet bombing. This takes a lot of patience and practice which several of our members are always prepared to provide.
Look for us as Rooks in the Aces High, Main Arena on Sunday nights, 9:00pm EST
